Beloved local pub Ironmaster in Fareham has made safety a priority in the community by installing a life-saving defibrillator outside of the venue with the help of the Alex Wardle Foundation.

After walking down the local Highstreet and observing that a vital defibrillator was missing, Operator Steve Morgan felt compelled to raise the funds necessary to bring the equipment to the area for the locals.

Thanks to the generosity of the community, the team at Ironmaster raised a whopping £1200 to cover the cost of the defibrillator through a summer and Christmas raffle. Donations from the public were made via the pub, and all of their New Year’s Eve ticket sales were all donated to the fundraising initiative, too.

Steve then teamed up with the Alex Wardle Foundation who donated the defibrillator which was placed outside the pub and will now provide the local area with access to necessary life-saving equipment. After paying for the box for the defibrillator, Steve has decided to donate the rest of the money to the charity so that other areas can also benefit from having a defibrillator installed.

The Alex Wardle Foundation is a charity set up in memory of the son of a medical student who passed away due to a sudden cardiac issue. Their aim is to provide communities with defibrillators, which, if used within 8 minutes of a cardiac arrest, can increase the chance of survival by 80%.

To celebrate the installation of the equipment, the team at Ironmaster are hosting the local councillor on 22nd January along with the team from the Alex Wardle Foundation to see the machine and present the charity with the donations raised. Steve is also encouraging customers to attend to take pictures with the councillor and have a chat about the vital addition to the local area.

Ironmaster isn’t stopping there with the fundraising, the pub is also currently hosting a vote on their social media for the next charity that they should fundraise for as they pick a charity every year to sponsor for the year.
