Edinburgh’s prestigious area around George Street has been blessed with a charming array of stylish bars over the years but none boasts the diverse appeal more so than the latest, radical, half a million pound transformationandhellip;andhellip;andhellip;andhellip;andhellip;.

‘Hanover Tap,’ an original concept for Edinburgh’s aspiring fashionista, hipster, and student launched on Friday 29th July. Guaranteed to add to the capital’s opulence and prosperity, it’s already creating twenty new jobs.

Breathing fresh life into the heart of Hanover Street, there’s no je ne se quoi as to the name. As the business transformed so did the plans with the uncovering of beautiful Edinburgh stone which now adds authentic character – add seven back wall taps offering the city’s most eye-catching shrine to the craft ale revolution, three rotating cask ales, and Hanover Tap is born.

With something on tap for everyone whether you’re a gin palace queen, millennial beer aficionado, cocktail connoisseur or even healthy smoothie lover, the latest addition promises day to night, guilty pleasures, finessed with an urban food menu. Saunter in and sit back in comfort to admire the rustic overtones against a backdrop of industrial design. Delicious Tapas, seasonal salads, tasty vegetarian options and the piece de resistance, a variety of ten hand-stretched, stone baked pizzas to suit every taste and every occasion. Join the Big Scottish Breakfast from 9am; crafty burger Wednesday awaits and no better way to try out the ingeniously simple Margherita, or Haggis artisan pizzas during Thursday’s 2-4-1 pizza day.

As the lights went down at Friday night’s VIP launch event (29th July) from 7pm-1am, the atmosphere and music fired up when the Jordan Murray Trio strummed out Ben Howard, Ed Sheeran and John Mayer influenced tunes from 10pm, setting the scene for many a well-groomed party-goer for weekends to come.

General Manager, Danny Roe said: “We’ve been meticulous in the planning for this fabulous development, just when Edinburgh thought there was no more to come!

We’ve considered every discerning New Town customer, achieving an offer that welcomes all. We even boast the finest sport viewing facilities, Sky and BT Sports, but in a way you simply wouldn’t know exists sat in other areas of the bar.

“Project Crackling has been fun. Developing the best Sunday Roast this side of the Yorkshire Pudding. We might be contemporary but there are definitely some pub traditions that need preserving!”

The pub has a hideaway basement “Wee Tap Bar” for chill out, events and private bookings and is an Edinburgh Festival venue with the infamous Laughing Horse bringing acts ahead of Fringe performances. Students are also catered for with 25% off a selected menu.
