BLUEBELL HOTEL BOOSTS BUDGET HOTEL BUSINESS FOR MIDDLESBROUGH

Already rated as the best value accommodation in Middlesbrough, The Bluebell Hotel has now renovated twenty of its sixty rooms in a £200,000 investment.

Retaining prices well below the average UK room price, manager Andrea Pacey explains: “Budget accommodation has seen huge growth in recent years. Customers have learnt to expect more for their money and we agree they should.

“There is high demand with lots of branded budget rooms being built across the UK. Our experience though is that people love staying in a pub, with easy access to quality food, drink and service instead of relying on vending machine take away.”

Room prices at the pub are being maintained at £55, or £60 in the newly refurbished rooms which includes modernised furniture, bathrooms, TVs and Hypnos beds promising to guarantee years of comfortable sleep. With UK averages outside of London at the £69 mark, the popular pub is keen to ensure it remains firmly in the budget accommodation market.

Conveniently placed on the A19, three miles from the town centre, the hotel has been a boost for Middlesbrough welcoming football trade; business park visitors; contractors; tourists to Whitby, Heartbeat country and Hartlepool’s historic quays; and visiting relatives of nearby families wanting their own space and, home from home.

“Value is key for visitors,” adds Andrea. “Essential amenities like free wi-fi included in the room price; a good nights sleep; free parking; and a wide range of menu choices makes the difference in a guest enjoying their visit or not.

“Hotels like ours have to stay ahead of the game to avoid the quintessential English pub and inn losing out to alternative accommodation. That’s what we’ve done and in the process helped to present a positive image of the town.”

The Bluebell is also a community pub showing live sports, hosting theme nights, charity events and occasions in the function room.

With celebrities like Bradley Wiggins and the late Paul Daniels having stayed at the hotel in the past, Andrea and husband Sean hope that the development will encourage more high profile visitors who support the tradition of a well run English Inn.
