Sometimes it’s a proper pub with atmosphere that is just the ticket – add sport, classic pub food, local ales, a whopping six-figure refurbishment, and Caerphilly got a royal treat when The Kings Arms reopened on Friday 29th January.

Sparkle came not only with the stunning makeover. Owner Stonegate Pub Company has appointed Laura Cowhey, home grown talent and former bar person, to manage the pub’s sixteen strong team. Two new roles have been created following the investment.

Laura welcomed loyal customers and traditional pub lovers to the grand unveiling at the 200 year-old pub, along with music played by local four piece live band Casio.

Already renown for the best sports following in town, The Kings Arms boasts six HD screens with the sports full monty of Sky, BT Sports, The Racing Channel and At the Races. Boxing matches will be available pub side in 2016, whilst rugby loving Caerphilly can lavish the welcome atmosphere when the Six Nations kicks off on 6th February. Early seats and a strong heart are recommended as the pub hosts Wales vs Ireland on the 7th February.

Open from 9am Monday to Saturday, customers are invited to a traditional English breakfast at just £2.29, a pancake treat or eggs Benedictine. Lazy Sundays are served from a leisurely 10am.

The all day menu is served from midday until 9pm, oozing quality and value with two meals for £7.49 running all week. From a range of snacks, sharers and light bites to fresh salads, grilled dishes, burgers or pub favourites, the pub has every dining occasion covered. Two for one desserts run all week too.

Ringing the bell on change, The Kings Arms almost doubles its hand pulls, regularly rotating its cask ale range, sourced both nationally and regionally. Brecon Beacon, Brains, and Rhymney breweries are first on the pumps, satisfying the thirst of beer enthusiasts. Meanwhile cocktail fans can raise a glass to the 2-4-1 offer extending to all day, every day – that’s two cocktails for £4.95 or two pitchers for £9.45, providing excellent choice for all.

The Kings Arms will be hosting regular activities and promotions throughout the week. Mondays are all about ‘going large’ on a selection of pub favourites for only £3.99. Tuesdays bring on the ‘big burger bar’ with burger and a pint for £3.99, featuring Red Tooth Poker in the evening. Wednesdays are dedicated to live sports, whilst Thursday will be grill day for £7.95 and Friday finishes a busy week with a classic dish and drink for £4.99. Social Saturdays are dedicated to sharers with a five-plank sharer for £7.99 or 50 chicken wings for £10.49. Monthly live music features on Saturdays, with quiz night on Sundays.

Laura commented: “The Kings Arms has got bags of personality and character – a traditional community pub with a welcoming environment and obviously great service, which is a massive passion of mine. I’ve worked in a number of Stonegate pubs whilst training and progressed from being a member of a pub team to assistant manager and now as general manager of the King Arms this is honestly my favourite – it is so welcoming.

“We’ve got some great plans over the coming weeks, lots of promotions, a range of great deals, and a vast array of entertainment and sports. The ideas just keep coming. It’s a proper pub and you just can’t beat it!”

The Kings Arms will be open from 9am – 11pm Monday to Thursday, 9am – 1.30am on Friday and Saturday and 12pm – 11pm on Sunday.
