We all know diamonds are a girl’s best friend, and let’s be honest who wouldn’t want to be given a lovely sparkler? Now there’s no need for hints and endless waiting for a loved one to come up trumps, as you can bag yourself a free diamond courtesy of Slug and Lettuce in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

The bar on Quayside is being treated to a fabulous £270,000 makeover next month and to celebrate its manager Stella McKevitt is promising to give a free diamond away to one lucky customer at its launch night party.
The bar is set to close in a weeks time (27th February) when the keys will be handed over to the builders and designers to work their magic transforming it from top to toe into Slug and Lettuce’s latest stylish new look. Complete with exclusive party style booth seating and sophisticated lighting that transforms it from a daytime eaterie to late night party place, the bar will have a sumptuous colour palate of plum, aubergine, purple and gold to finish the look.

To celebrate manager Stella McKevitt will host a glamorous purple carpet re-launch party on Friday 9 March to rival any A-List event from paparazzo through to entertainment from stiltwakers, angle-grinders and firebreathers. Guests can even take part in a cocktail masterclass taking place throughout the evening and enjoy complimentary promotions from Jägermeister .

“The first 100 guests to arrive will each receive a glass of bubbly with either a diamante, or for one lucky person, a real diamond attached to the glass” explains Stella, “Each customer is invited to take their ‘diamond’ to the expert jeweller we will have in the bar who will verify the real diamond.”

“It’s a fabulous giveaway and pretty good odds at 100 to 1”, she continued. Customers wishing to secure a complimentary hot ticket to the event should email alan.armstrong@stonegatepubs.com

“The bar will look stunning once it’s finished. I’m delighted with the design as its stylish and contemporary but will feel warm and inviting too. We’re not resting on our laurels whilst the builders are working at the bar as the team and I will be refreshing our training so that when we re-open every aspect of our service is absolutely tip-top.”

“The party atmosphere will run all through the weekend as our entertainers will return for our first big Saturday night on 10th. And on the Sunday we will be hosting a family fun day with face painters, balloon modellers, magician and the chance for the kids to meet Slug and Lettuce’s very own mascot.”

Slug and Lettuce is situated at Exchange Buildings, Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 3AE.
