Former England Rugby hero and Wasps player Joe Worsley is set to join customers of Slug and Lettuce in Richmond on Saturday 17 March ahead of Six Nations clashes Wales v France and England v Ireland to meet rugby fans, enjoy a pint and talk tactics.

Joe who represented England on 78 occasions as Flanker and No. 8 before retiring in November due to injury, will be at the bar on Water Lane, from 12.30pm on Saturday 17 March. The Wales versus France match kicks off at 2.45pm before the perfect St Patrick’s Day clash England versus Ireland at 5pm.

Slug and Lettuce customers and rugby fans will get the chance to meet Joe and listen to his views on the game whilst enjoying a pint of Greene King IPA, the Official Beer of England Rugby.

“No one loves rugby as much as a Slug and Lettuce Richmond customer and we are honoured to have rugby legend Joe Worsley joining us on St Patricks day ahead of the England vs Ireland match. His knowledge of the game and locker room tactics will give our customers a fantastic insight into the match”, said manager Nicole Gore. “We’ll be opening our outside bar from 11am on the day to create extra capacity and ensure customers can get their pint of Greene King IPA served swiftly.”

In addition to this opportunity any true rugby fan would love, Slug and Lettuce has teamed up with Greene King IPA to offer six of its customers plus a guest spectator each, the chance to take part in a training session with the members of the England squad which make up the First XV. Winners of the ‘money-can’t-buy’ prize could be teaming up with backs Chris Ashton and Ben Foden, learn to kick with Toby Flood and take their chances in the scrum with the likes of Dan Cole and Matt Stevens at the official training ground of the RFU.

The competition, available to enter online at www.slugandlettuce.co.uk or via selected Slug and Lettuce bars, including Richmond, is open until 31 March 2012. Terms and conditions apply.
