Fundraising contest at Yates’s Chesterfield

Two managers from a pub in Chesterfield are to go head to head to fundraise for their chosen charities over the Easter period. Sarah Brooks and Melanie Simpson, both from Yates’s on Burlington Street, have each finalised their plans and hope that combined they will raise over £1000.

Sarah is coordinating a weekend of Easter themed activities at the pub, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care which includes a raffle for a luxury hamper, a meal for two at the pub and a name the bunny competition. Children can also enter an Easter themed colouring competition to win a tickets to ‘Gullivers Kingdom’. Prize winners will be announced in the pub on Tuesday 10th April at 3pm.

“I chose Macmillan as my charity to support as the Macmillan nurses gave my family and my gran before she passed away, such amazing care. It is good to be able to give something back to them and to recognise the fantastic job they do, said Sarah. “A big thank you to them for helping me with fundraising kit and to the many generous local businesses who have kindly donated prizes.”

Meanwhile Melanie, 23, will be taking on a more personal challenge, a sky dive in aid of Alzheimers Society. Melanie will take to the skies and conquer her nerves on Thursday 12 April.

“I’m excited but nervous at the same time”, said Melanie, “but I know with that much money at stake I won’t pull out at the last minute. I just can’t. My grandfather suffers from alzheimers and so it’s a charity that means a lot to me.”
