Residents of Ramsgate are in for a glamorous evening this Friday (11th April) as the Goose, formerly known as the Sovereign, reopens with a special black tie party in celebration of the pub’s £220,000 makeover.

The team will be joined by the Mayor of Ramsgate, Councillor Kim Gibson, who will be cutting the ribbon at 5pm during a private reception with invited guests, prior to the pub opening to the public at 7pm.

“We’re getting a new name and a new look. We will be celebrating in style as we roll out the red carpet. All our guests will receive a complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival accompanied by live music by the Gershwin Gang” said Kelly Taylor, manager of the Goose.

“A great pub is about offering three key things – excellent service, exceptional food and drink, and a memorable experience. I believe that we have always embraced this ethos and now, with a new look pub and six new team members, we’ll be even better placed to offer an exceptional customer experience.

The pub has been spruced up to offer an enhanced dining pleasure with a raised dining area; additional booths; softer furnishings and new light fixtures – inspired by outdoor lanterns – as well as new outside furniture.

“Food remains a prime focus and our chefs will be presenting tasters from our exciting new menu on the launch night. We will still be featuring pub classics such as Cumberland Sausage and Mash and Curry-Lover’s Pie but have some great new additions, influenced by new food trends, as well as offering an under 500 calories selection, catering for guests looking for a light bite.”

Also gracing the menu are some great sharing platters, such as mini burgers, perfect for snacking on during the Goose’s Tuesday and Wednesday sports evenings, as well as the new Sunday Roast selection. The pub will also be introducing a large HD projector – perfect for watching this season’s games.

The Goose is known for its rocking party nights and the opening event will be the start of many festivities to come; resident DJ’s will be keeping guests in a great mood on Friday’s and Saturday’s whilst the bar team mix up cocktails for those after a sultry summer drink. Beer enthusiasts can enjoy the increased number of cask ale choices on offer including national favourites as well as locally sourced ales.

The pub will open daily from 9.00am serving a selection of breakfasts and hot drinks including Lavazza coffee.
