When bosses challenged one hundred and fifty pubs to raise £100,000 in aid of Noah’s Ark Children’s charity by joining in a ‘Spartan march’, one manager decided to take it a step further!

Challenging his own team at The Merchant Brentwood to raise £1,000 by the 28th of July, Paul Marshall promised that if they topped the goal, he’d shave his head – and now it looks as though he’s going to be a bald Spartan when the three hundred pub managers embark on the fundraising journey into the City of London on Sunday 30th July.

Not one to let customers miss out, the deed will be done when DJ Jacko runs an ‘S.O.S... Shave Our Staff’ Heroes & Villains charity event Friday 28th July when Paul and some other brave staff members will undergo some very daring beauty treatments!

“We have been advised to carry some water on the march but it looks like I’m going to need suntan lotion, should the sun appear, for my head!” said Paul.

“Our deputy manager Adam is going through the pain of a leg wax and he’s a very hairy guy so looks like he’s going to need chaffing cream by Sunday! It has been brilliant how people have got behind our cause and we’re hoping to provide some entertainment when the lovely ladies from Gemini Hair and Beauty salon do their best on us on Friday!”

Asking for a £1 donation for entry to see the spectacle, there will also be a raffle to win a Lions rugby shirt. On Sunday, decked out in Spartan regalia, 300 managers and team members from Stonegate Pub Company’s Southern region will set off at 1:00pm on the 12.5-mile walk from the Danson Stables in Bexleyheath, taking the London Road into the City and arriving at The Alice in Houndsditch some six hours or so later.

Using state of the art technology we are able to give you a glimpse of what Paul may look like....
