Islington’s diversity is about to boom when ‘Fox on the Green,’ a new, contemporary pub in one of London’s most popular locations, opens Thursday 28th April from 5pm.

Owners Stonegate Pub Company has invested £250,000, creating ten new jobs, as the oldest pub in the area is restored to its authentic roots. Symbolically the grade II listed building on Upper Street has also got it’s original ‘Fox’ name back, dating back to before the green even existed in 1777.

Whilst the rapid increase in Islington’s popularity has seen the addition of trendy chains, European cuisine and fine dining, ‘Fox on the Green,’ oozing artisan, craft and its original yet stylish warmth, is designed to satisfy the modern pub goer.

We’re talking finest local cask ales, on-trend craft beers, extensive cocktail list, premium gin range and food menu so flexible it caters for the health conscious vegetarian; gourmet pie and burger lover; ‘sharing only’ socialite and everything in between. The finest sport viewing facilities and weekend music tops the offer.

The eclectic choice of beers has local links, promising to rotate according to customers’ favourite tastes. Doombar, Peckwrecker and N1 local pale ale are first to the pumps with the craft range including Hop House, Meantime Pale Ale, Camden Hells and Camden Pils. ‘Try it’ craft paddles, three thirds for £3 served Tuesdays, allow customers to sample the whole range in just a few servings.

The extravaganza of cocktails offers tantalising masterpieces, inviting the after work social at 2-4-1, Monday to Friday 5-8pm. Meanwhile the ‘7 deadly gins’ range brings out the botanical flavours with indulgent garnishes such as fresh strawberry served with Bloom gin to enhance its honeysuckle, pomelo and chamomile.

No matter the palate, food stretches to everyone’s taste from ten delicious Tapas to seasonal salads and tasty vegetarian options; the 430 calorie Courgette Cannelloni stuffed with tomato, chickpeas, orzo and topped with a creamy white sauce, just one tempting dish on offer.

For the gourmet chef inspired pie lover, customers can sink their teeth into one of the generously sized pies, like the Blade of Beef in Red Wine or open chicken pie with a creamy smoked Applewood cheese, bacon andamp; butter bean sauce. Pie and pint Thursdays include a pint of cask or craft beer with the delicious range.

Burger lovers are not left out with seven own-recipe, lightly seasoned beef patties from the Classic to the delicious Manchego Cheese Sauce andamp; Diced Chorizo Burger – with crafty burger Wednesdays being burger lovers opportunity to grab a free pint.

With a quirky quiz on Thursdays; Fizz Friday at £14 all day; DJ nights Friday and Saturday and a vast sports menu it’s Monday to Sunday, noon to night variety. The Fox has even recognised demand for the great Sunday roast, unlike some other high street pubs!

General Manager John Phelan said: “We are inviting new and existing customers to come try the new venue. By day we are family-friendly boasting a quality menu that caters for every taste. When the transition to evening comes, lights are dimmed, music is turned up and cocktails are 2-4-1 – what more could you want?”
