High Street favourite, The Slug and Lettuce is to open in Harborne later this month, creating twenty new jobs for local people. Loved for it’s cocktails, value for money, quality food offer and lively, yet friendly atmosphere, the bar will launch on Friday 30th January.

In celebration, general manager Edwina Horan will be giving away a real diamond to one lucky customer as part of a ‘real or not real’ giveaway game. Local businesses and residents will be invited to a special VIP champagne and canapé reception from 5pm, to take a first peek at the bar, before doors open officially at 7pm. Throughout the evening bartenders will entertain guests with cocktail masterclasses, as a diamond dealer in the bar verifies the real deal.

The new bar, which is right in the centre of the busy High Street, will open daily from 8am serving a delicious selection of breakfast choices from muffins topped with smoked salmon and scrambled egg, porridge served with honey or classics such as Eggs Benedict or Eggs Royale. Traditional toasted bacon or sausage sandwiches and full English dishes are on the menu too, as are a wide selection of traditional, herbal and fruit teas and coffees from Costa Coffee.

A tasty Rib-Eye steak, matured for a minimum of 35 days and char-grilled to order; a Smoked Haddock, Salmon and King Prawn Pie, with a cream and leek sauce and topped with buttery mash and cheese; and a spicy, colourful Moroccan Chicken salad are three examples of dishes on the menu, which also includes platters to share, lighter dishes – all under 500 calories; and indulgent desserts that are offered two-for-one every day of the week.

A wide selection of award-winning wines, craft beers, locally-sourced cask ales and premium draught lagers, join Slug and Lettuce’s unique cocktail range on the drinks menu. Using premium spirits brands, the cocktails are priced at two for one from Thursdays to Saturdays, between 4pm and 10pm. Three special ‘Recipe for Love’ cocktails will be available throughout February. Served in jam jars and featuring Absolut Vanilla, Absolut Cherry and Absolut Citron, the cocktails are the perfect start to a date, or for enjoying with friends on a girls night out.

Edwina Horan said, “The new bar will be stunning and to top it off we will be combining all that is great about Slug, bringing it to Harborne – the two-for-one cocktails; our 50% off food Happy Monday’s; and Wine Down Wednesday’s, where customers can enjoy our finest wines for just £11.45 a bottle.”

The bar will open weekdays from 8am closing at midnight on Sundays to Thursdays and at 2am during DJ led Friday and Saturdays.
