The Green Man on Leverstock Green Road in Hemel Hempstead, which is owned and operated by the award-winning Stonegate Pub Company, will be offering up their private function room for a Mad Hatter themed charity event held in honour of Macmillan Nurses on Friday 27th September.

The event is organised by Gloria Odell – mother of the pub’s general manager Heather Odell. Guests will be offered a cake and a hot drink free of charge but are strongly encouraged to make a donation in return for the treat.

Local MP Mike Penning will be attending the event – arriving at 11am – as well as judging the “maddest hat” competition, where guests can win a secret prize by wearing their craziest headgear. There will also be other competitions held, including a darts contest.

Heather said: “We are very pleased to host this event as Macmillan Nurses provide support to people in times of need and they are well-known within our community. We are dedicated to supporting local charities and we have hosted fundraisers in the past for Hospice of St. Francis and Great Ormond Street Hospital.”

“We have already noticed an increasing amount of interest for the event and we have had several of our guests asking to take part in the charity raffle, which costs £1. Local businesses have also offered their support by donating prizes, including a champagne afternoon for two at The Gore Hotel in Kensington and a round of golf for four at Shendish Manor.”

Kenco will be providing the refreshments and local shop Emmabelle Cakes will be supplying 48 iced vanilla cupcakes. Team members at the pub have also pledged to bake for the event.
