Chichester’s newest pub concept The ‘Chantry’ sees the city’s Mayor pulling the first (probably craft) pint on Friday 23rd September in celebration of South Street’s latest asset.

The VIP event will reveal the new ‘premium’ offer with tastes of cutting-edge craft beers, urban food, and botanical infused gins against a backdrop of acoustics by talented local singer / songwriter Lauren Bannon.

Designed for the aspiring fashionista, hipster, and stylist, the £250,000 transformation opens fully at 7pm showing off its blend of artisan and stylish warmth. Eye-catching features include the neon-lit back wall taps – a shrine to the craft ale revolution; and Henty’s garden, the renovated 15th century courtyard with a quirky old piano renovated as a giant planter.

“The Chantry is a day to night experience, with lots of guilty pleasures,” explains manager Neil O’Hagan. “The city is keen for a chic breakfast so we’ve started there – from a pimped up Eggs Benedictine to Ciabatta with Houmous and Avocado – not neglecting the full English of course!

“We’ve added a great all day, urban style menu; six craft ales; two craft ciders; thirty-eight amazing cocktails; and fifteen gins infused right here in the pub. It’s a fabulous offer for Chichester.”

The list of craft products includes Brewdog Punk IPA; Brooklyn; Hop house 13; Meantime London Lager and Lilly’s Mango andamp; Pear cider. The menu boasts ten hand-stretched, stonebaked pizzas; a combination of tapas, the ultimate socialising food; pub usuals such as Beef andamp; Abbot ale pie; Salads and lighter dishes; and Burgers with own recipe beef patties.

Neil added: “A great venue is about atmosphere too so we have everything planned from traditional quizzes to gin and jazz nights and, come the weekend, we’re taking the energy higher with live entertainment.”

The Chantry has also lined up a range of offers including Try it Tuesday, a great opportunity to sample three beers in one sitting; Crafty burger Wednesday with burger and a beer; 2-4-1 pizzas Thursday and Fizz Friday with a great offer on Prosecco by the bottle.

The development, which has created twelve new job roles, is in place of the Slug andamp; Lettuce, both owned by Stonegate Pub Company.
