Slug and Lettuce, the award winning national premium bar group, is set to launch its most ambitious bar to date, this Friday 13th September, at London’s O2 Arena. It will open its latest bar following a £650,000 spend, creating 22 new jobs in the process.

To celebrate, the bar’s general manager Richard Hamilton and his team will be hosting a two day circus themed party. Slug and Lettuce which has operated a successful business on the Entertainment Avenue at the O2 since its launch, is moving to a bigger, more spacious site in the complex. The new bar which is fitted with the latest in bar design and technology will increase its capacity from 250 customers to 700 at any given time.

Located over two floors and with a bar on both, customers can pre-book the 10-seater party booths or even a whole floor for an event.

A spectacular party has been planned for the bar’s launch on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th September. Swinging open its doors from 5pm on Friday, Slug and Lettuce customers will skip along the twisted purple carpet to a world of circus intrigue and thrills. Contortionists, dancers, stilt-walkers and human puppets will entertain whilst customers can try their hand at ball manipulation, pay a visit to the old fashioned sweet stall complete with retro Slug and Lettuce sweets, pop a handful of popcorn and settle in for an evening of thrills and spills. The bar’s DJ will play ringmaster for the night hosting an evening of super prize giveaways such as complimentary meals and drinks as well as tickets for events. The first 100 guests to arrive will also receive a complimentary glass of champagne and canapés on arrival. To be in with a chance to attend the VIP opening, please email infoslugo2@stonegatepubs.com with ‘Opening Party O2’ in the subject heading to have your name added to the guest list.

The theme continues throughout Saturday during which children are welcomed until 8pm.

Talking about the new Slug and Lettuce general manager Richard Hammond said, “When the opportunity arose to take this space at the O2 we knew it was just what we were looking for. We hate to turn customers away but during event nights we simply didn’t have enough space to fit everyone it. Now with a capacity for 700 and being able to serve food right through until midnight we couldn’t be happier!

“We took inspiration for the launch weekend from the O2 itself”, added Richard, “After all it looks like a giant Big Top! We’ve pushed out all the stops to make it the best and most spectacular Slug and Lettuce launch to date and I’m sure our customers won’t be disappointed!”

“We’ll be opening with a great new cocktail menu, the Hollywood Classics which offer some timeless and classic cocktails such as the Black Russian, the Pina Colada and the Pink Lady Fizz – rumoured to be Marilyn Monroe’s favourite drink so what better way to start, or even finish your night at the O2”, concluded Richard.
