Popular neighbourhood hub, The Phoenix in Tamworth, recently hosted an incredible event for local veterans, to mark Remembrance Day and to raise money for The Royal British Legion.

The team at The Phoenix made sure the pub had plenty of Remembrance Day themed decorations on display, including intricately painted artwork, painted directly onto the windows, featuring ‘Lest We Forget’ art, and Remembrance Day flags to show their support for the British Army, Royal Navy and Air Force for all passers-by to see.

To kick off the day, General Manager Natalie White, alongside the rest of the pub team, warmly welcomed veterans in early, for complimentary breakfast sandwiches before they headed off on their Remembrance Day march around the town. For those not attending the march, The Phoenix showed it on their screens within the venue and offered a discount on drinks to celebrate the day.

Once the march had finished, the team invited the veterans back to enjoy classic 60’s music from a DJ and also a buffet, surrounded by great company. A charity raffle followed, raising money for The Royal British Legion, a charity that The Phoenix work closely with. Prizes included gin and whiskey, and the money raised will help The Royal British Legion support ex-army personnel and their families.

Natalie and the team regularly support the RBL by hosting serving personnel, veterans, and their families for breakfast. The pub also hosted a raffle with some incredible prizes at the most recent breakfast morning.

General Manager Natalie said: “It is truly heart-warming to see the community come together to support the veterans. We as a pub are extremely proud of the close relationship that we hold with the Royal British Legion and do as much as we can to support them. Remembrance Day is an incredibly important day, and we are proud to support the veterans on such a special occasion.”

The Phoenix is hosting multiple fundraisers throughout December, including a charity food donation hamper for the local food bank where customers can bring in donations, along with a charity toy donation for the local hospital to support children in hospital during Christmas.
