The George Crosby on Moor Lane in Crosby, Liverpool has raised almost £1,000 for the Guide Dogs charity. The pub recently hosted a charity bingo night full of fun, games and entertainment, all to support the cause.
Locals joined in the fun, playing bingo for a chance to win some great raffle prizes, as well as enjoying great entertainment from a father and son Irish folk musical duo, Mick and Chris Roach. One half of the duo, Chris, who is affected by blindness, thrilled everyone with his keyboard skills. Customers also welcomed a four-legged, furry guest, Bertie, a guide dog belonging to one of the pub’s regulars, who is a huge supporter of the cause.
Karen Gordon, General Manager of The George Crosby, said: “What a fantastic night! I was so pleased to see so many people turn up and support a great cause. It was a huge success and we didn’t have a spare seat left!
“All of us here at The George are incredibly proud of how much we have raised. It is an honour to be able to present the funds to such an amazing charity. We hope to arrange more nights like this to raise funds for the Guide Dogs charity, as it is very close to our hearts.”
According to the charity Guide Dogs, two million UK residents are living with sight loss, with another person going blind every hour. Guide dogs are trained to provide life-changing services to people affected by sight loss by helping them grow in confidence and enabling them to be more independent.
