Caleyfest is back with a Bang!

Where: The Caledonian, 9 High Street, Inverness IV1 1HY

Date: Friday 27th and Saturday 28th July 2018

The Caledonian, on the High Street in Inverness, will be hosting its very own summer festival this July, known as CaleyFest. The indoor, DJ-led music festival is run by the pub in aid of the local mental health charity, Mikeysline and Beatson Cancer Charity.

Now in its second year, CaleyFest has grown to boast 15 DJ acts, on two stages, over two days, with many local favourites headlining. Acts include popular Caledonian resident, DJ Mikey, bringing his collection of hits to the ‘Main Stage’, while the newest and most upcoming Highlands Dance DJs, including Twiggz and Andy Rough (I Am A Raver), play back-to-back sets in the Dance Tent.

There will be an outdoor BBQ throughout the day, face painting and a ‘glitter-fairy’, as well as a number of activities organised to entertain the children. Entrance is free, although customers enjoying the festival are encouraged to make a small donation to either charity.

Pamela Macleod, Deputy Manager of the Caledonian and co-organiser of CaleyFest, with her colleague Michelle Thomas, first decided to organise a music festival as part of the Albert Award, a management training course run by operator Stonegate Pub Company. “I was feeling really down about not attending any Music Festivals that year, and the idea just came to me!” said Pamela.

“Last year CaleyFest only ran over one day, but it was so popular we’ve expanded massively this year. I’ve been in Inverness a lot longer now too, so I know more people in the local music scene this time, and I feel that’s really reflected in the line-up. The support we’ve received has been fantastic, all of our acts are playing for free, so everything we manage to raise will go straight to the charities.”

“The most important thing to me about organising this festival, is the local aspect. We have local DJs, playing for the community and we’re supporting local charities. They’re both causes that actively change lives in the area – the nephew of one of our DJs receives invaluable support from Beatson and Mikeysline does wonders to help anyone who needs it in the Highlands.

“Sometimes it’s easy to feel a bit forgotten up here, especially when it comes to support for mental health issues – so I’m really proud to support the amazing work they do.”
