It’s a pub that is at the heart of its community and to celebrate a new look the Black Dog in Aberdeen is holding a family fun day for its customers.
The Stonegate Pub Company site has invested a five-figure sum in redecorating the interior and exterior of this much-loved traditional local pub.
The regulars, some of whom have been using the Black Dog for more than 30 years, are being invited to bring their families along on Friday, 12th August – where they will be entertained with rides, a bouncy castle, face painting and a children’s entertainer. But the fun isn’t all aimed at the children – there’s also a disco and karaoke for the grown-ups!
General manager Sharon Starkie said: “The Black Dog is a much loved pub and we know the locals, and newcomers to the pub, will really enjoy the changes we have made.
“To celebrate, we’re having a fantastic family fun day. It’s just the right time too with the sun about to shine once again and the children being on their school holidays. We’re sure everyone will enjoy the day and join us in celebrating the new look Black Dog.”
Saturday, 13th August will see local band Winston Smith perform their host of covers to entertain the crowds and keep the party weekend in full swing.
“They’re a great band, they play all types of music and always go down really well,” added Sharon.
The changes to the pub, which have seen the installation of new flooring and the introduction of modern, comfortable furniture, have also led to the creation of two new jobs, with the Black Dog looking to recruit some extra kitchen staff.
“We’re looking at introducing a breakfast offer, so we will be able to serve food through the whole day,” Sharon continued.
The pub has on offer two meals for £8.49, with pub classics like fish and chips or options including a club sandwich or a southern fried chicken wrap. For those with a thirst the pub is also introducing Amstel 5% ABV.
The Black Dog will open Monday to Wednesday 10am to 11pm, Thursday to Saturday 10am to 12am and Sunday 10am to 11pm.
