Staffordshire’s 200-year-old iconic Pigot Arms in rural Pattingham has been lovingly restored, and will re-open Saturday 23rd January, creating six new local jobs.
Bursting with traditional rustic character, the pub will now be offering twice as many cask ales, two on trend craft beers, tasty classic fare and with the addition of a children’s library, manager Stacey Wallace ensures there is something for all the family.
To celebrate the six-figure investment by owners Stonegate Pub Company, a VIP reception takes place on the 23rd from 4.00pm when loyal regular and supplier Roger Evans will officially ‘cut the ribbon’ accompanied by competition winner Michael Rickwood who successfully named the cask ale brewed for the opening ceremony: “Pigot Arms – no ‘arm done’. Doors open to welcome new customers at 6pm.
The pub now restored with original elegance and charm offers top quality, freshly prepared classic pub food, alongside the local real ales together with a heap of warm-hearted hospitality. The menu features the very best in British pub favourites. Starters include the perfect seaside fish board sharer of Severn Wye and Oak smoked salmon, wholetail scampi, king prawns and calamari. Classic main courses include Cumberland sausage and mash, fresh-baked lasagne with garlic ciabatta bread, braised calf’s liver with colcannon mash and a Madeira wine andamp; caramelised onion sauce. No meal is complete without the home comfort of a traditional British dessert including a home baked seasonal crumble of the day alongside several indulgent alternatives.
Lazy Sunday’s are designed just for families with exquisite roasts, cooked to perfection and served with generous portions of seasonal vegetables sourced locally. Newspapers and board games to hand – not forgetting the Pigot’s own children’s library – families are sure to enjoy whiling away Sundays.
Six rotating regional and national hand pulls greet locals including brews from Marston’s, Hobson’s and Three Tuns breweries. The opening cask menu includes Town Cryer and Twisted Spirit from Hobson’s alongside 1642 and Cleric cure from Three Tuns brewery. Quality approved with the cask marque and offering CAMRA members 10% discount on every pint, real ale is set to be in full demand although with Blue Moon and Shipyard craft beers also on offer, choice is set to be tough.
Everyone loves a deal and the Pigot Arms boasts £2.25 during the all-day Monday Cask Club, Tuesday curry club at £7.99 with quiz night, Thursday wines at £9 a bottle and Friday’s weekly 2-for-1 cocktails a perfect accompaniment to the monthly acoustic sets. A range of two meals for £10.49 is also on offer Monday to Friday. Meanwhile, weekends are about eating out with grill night on Saturday offering two succulent rumps steaks at £15.99 and the relaxing ‘lazy Sundays’ with roast.

The Pigot Arms will open from midday Monday to Friday, 11am at weekends, closing at 11pm Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and midnight on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
