Luton based business, Stonegate Pub Company, has won an award for being the best employer in its industry.

The company whose headquarters are on the Capability Green Business Park, picked up the highly coveted award for Best Pub Employer with over 50 sites at The Publican Awards this month.

The award recognises the innovative and engaging training and development that the company offers to its 10,000 employees, through its’ Career Pathway. The pathway is based loosely around the figure of Albert Einstein and provides employees with a clear view of how they can develop their career within the business alongside a flexible way of accessing training.

Commenting on the award win Tim Painter, HR Director said, “The Best Pub Employer Award is the culmination of two years of significant change in terms of people development within Stonegate. Changes, which have been welcomed by our employees and that are making a real difference to the motivation and aspirations of all involved.”

“The structure now in place via Albert’s Theory of Progression gives all of our people a clear view of how they can develop their career with the business and provides us with a pool of talent who have been developed from within the business,” concluded Tim.

In addition, the company launched a unique intranet system, known as Elsa, named after Einstein’s second wife, which provides e-learning tools as well as up-to-date industry and company information for all its employees. A dedicated training centre based in Birmingham with a specific kitchen development facility was also opened by Stonegate in November.
