The Marquis of Granby, on The Square in Hessle, marked the second anniversary of its bi-monthly Veterans’ Breakfast on Saturday 3rdAugust. In the 48 successful meetings since it first began on Saturday 5th August 2017, The West Hull Breakfast Club has continued to grow, welcoming new members every week. The event was attended by the Lord of Mayor of Hull and Admiral of the Humber, Councillor Steve Wilson, who addressed the group.

The breakfast club is open to all veterans and serving members of her Majesty’s Armed Forces, and currently includes ex-servicemen of the Army, the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines. Each faculty was represented by its official flag, which adorned the walls of the pub. The group, which can reach over 50 people, meet on the first and third Saturday of every month at 10am, to enjoy breakfast and some banter.

The team at the Marquis of Granby are proud to host the event and are able to extend the group a special discount on their breakfast and on tea and coffee, as a small token of gratitude for their services to Queen and country.

Hayley Walker, General Manager of the Marquis of Granby, said, “We hope to continue to welcome the West Hull Breakfast Club to the Marquis of Granby for many more years to come. It is a real pleasure for us to have the guys comes down here twice a month, they never fail to make us smile with their joke cracking and the obvious camaraderie between them.

“Whether it’s the same people we see here every breakfast, or whether it’s a new face coming for the first time, everyone is warmly welcomed into the group. Its blindingly obvious to anyone looking on, that they are a group of like-minded people, with a huge amount of respect and support for one another.”
