If you live, work or study in Gosta Green then you are in for a treat as the New Year brings with it a new look pub to the area. The Gosta Green on Holt Street is set to ‘Scream’ back into life on Thursday 19 January with a re-launch which is certain to banish the January winter blues.
The pub, formerly the site of the Holt Brewery is part of the Scream student brand and will be unrecognisable to local residents and students after its 2-week £250,000 refurbishment. The multi-coloured décor and illuminated sign will be banished in favour of a new contemporary black and white colour scheme and traditional pictorial pub sign featuring Holt Brewery’s old logo, a squirrel nibbling his acorn. Two striking mural paintings will take centre stage in the pub, a homage to Birmingham’s architecture and landmarks. Photographs and images of famous people from Birmingham will don the walls to add a splash of colour to the contemporary, bright look. New furniture and eclectic lighting including feature pendants and retro fittings will be introduced throughout.
Keen to show off the new look of the pub, manager Gemma French will re-open the doors on Thursday 19th January with complimentary drinks and tasters of the pub’s new stonebaked pizzas from 5-7pm. “No pub hosts a party better than a Scream pub and that exactly what the The Gosta Green will deliver, says Gemma. “Central to the pub will be great food at affordable prices, the best drinks deals around and daily entertainment to keep our customers coming back for more.”
The pub will re-open with a stellar line-up of value for money deals and nightly entertainment. Customers can get two main meals for just £6.50 all day every day whilst drinks can be discounted with Scream’s Yellow Card (available at www.screampubs.co.uk or via app). Sport remains a big focus for the pub and with superb offers such as Mondays’ Quids and Wednesdays 2 for the price of one on pizzas there’s even more reason to visit. The pub’s monthly local band night will be on Thursdays whilst Friday and Saturdays will be DJ-hosted party nights.
