The Quart Pot, on Runwell Road in Runwell, is hosting a Teddy Bear Adoption Day in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support this Sunday 22nd September. The event will run from 12pm – 4pm and will also include a coffee and cake sale for customers to enjoy.

Teddy Bears have been donated by customers over the past weeks ahead of the event, which will see customers able to adopt the stuffed toys for a small donation to the charity and take them home along with their Quart Pot certified adoption certificate. There will also be a kids DJ, bouncy castle and colouring station on site, to keep everyone entertained.

While the kids play, parents and other customers can enjoy some well-deserved respite and tuck into some freshly baked cakes and freshly brewed coffee, available to them as they while away the afternoon. All proceeds from the Teddy Bear Adoption and cake sale will all go towards the amazing work undertaken by Macmillan.

Gemma Love, manager of the Quart Pot and the initiatives organiser, is no stranger to Macmillan’s integral work in the fight against cancer having previously run the charity’s local fundraising group. She has now taken up the mantle from the pub and hopes to run many more events like this.

Gemma said: “We’ve been storing all the bears in our spare room… and I have to say, I hope we don’t have any surprise guests before Sunday, because there just isn’t any space for them!

“I’ve been totally blown away by the community’s support in getting behind our Teddy Adoption Day, we’ve had so many donations already – and it’s great that we can find new homes for all the teddies out there that need one too!

“Macmillan is a charity that does such incredible work, that they have probably touched each one of us in one way or another, whether its nurses have cared for a loved one or they’ve offered you support directly. The team and I feel really proud to support them in whatever way we can, and I hope we can continue to raise money to keep fighting cancer as a pub, and as a community, long into the future.”
