The Old Brewery in Marlow was recognised for the essential role it plays in the community by judges of the Publican Awards, a national awards ceremony that celebrates everything that’s great about the world of pubs and bars.
The Old Brewery on the High Street is a proper heritage pub with traditional values, but with a modern twist including sports screens, craft beer, daily events, and a 2am licence. It was refurbished in March 2018, with high-quality modern fittings, although brass and chrome fixtures and photography lining the walls pay tribute to its legacy as part of the original “Thomas Wethered & Sons” brewery.
The pub has built a reputation for showing every major sporting event and knowing how to create a great match atmosphere. Taking sports very seriously means all the action is shown live on the pub’s three large TVs, a huge projector screen and four smaller TVs in their own booths. Full table service is available during the big matches, so customers need not miss any of the action.
The Old Brewery is very proud of the adaptability and flexibility it offers. The key ingredient is its ability to seamlessly transition from a casual and cosy breakfast/coffee bar into a friendly lunchtime family restaurant; and from an exciting sports bar into a buzzing late-night venue, with DJs, music and dancing into the night, offering a great place to socialise at any time of the day. It’s this adaptability and versatility that makes the Old Brewery a successful community pub. Customers range from 18 to 80 years old and the pub caters for everyone.
