Popular student pub The Southfield is to reopen next week following a £240,000 investment.
Situated at the centre of the Teesside University campus, the pub has been given a full makeover – making it the ultimate ‘hang-out’ destination in Middlesbrough. A fresh new bar and distinctive furniture create a welcoming and informal space for friends to meet, mingle and chill, whilst retro games consoles, new HDTV screens, quizzes and other activities ensure there is always something going on. A dedicated gaming zone with stadium-style seating has also been created for an even better game experience.
The revamp extends to the garden which now boasts a new décor and seating for those who dare to brave the winter temperatures ahead of the warmer seasons. A designated breakfast area has also been added to provide laid-back vibes for the early birds and brunchers.
The Southfield continues to be open from breakfast until the early hours, with a brand-new menu packed with street food influences and full-on flavours: from vegan plant-based delights such as vegan chilli and rice and jackfruit bao buns to burgers and slow-cooked meats. The pub also offers a great selection of craft beers and cask ales, such as Anarchy Brewery, as well as a range of adventurous, infused spirits, delicious smoothies and frappés.
A pub’s weekly programme will tempt both the taste buds and the wallet and includes a combination of entertainment and food and drink offers. Wing Wednesdays offer wings at only 25p each; Thursdays are for Craft and Cocktails; and Clash of Cans is every Friday to finish the working week off in style.
Rob Highland, The Southfield General Manager said: “We are incredibly excited to re-launch our pub to the people of Middlesbrough. We will continue to offer everything from live music, sports, board games and retro gaming but with a fresh interior and revived menus. We look forward to welcome all the regulars and new customers back in!”
