Worcestershire favourite, The Slug and Lettuce re-opened in Worcester this month, creating 15 new jobs for local people following a £345,000 refurbishment. Loved for its cocktails, value for money, quality food offer and lively, yet friendly atmosphere, the premium bar re-opened on Saturday 28th November – coinciding with the popular Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre weekend.
A soft launch party was held on Tuesday 24th November with local businesses and residents invited to take a first peek at a special VIP champagne and canapé reception from 5pm, before doors opened to the public at 7pm. Throughout the evening bartenders entertained guests with cocktail masterclasses and tasters from premium brand representatives.
The bar, which is located in a converted church in the centre of Worcester, will open daily from 9am* serving a delicious selection of breakfast choices from muffins topped with smoked salmon and scrambled egg, porridge served with honey or classics such as Eggs Benedict or Eggs Royale. Traditional toasted bacon or sausage sandwiches and full English dishes are on the menu too, as are a wide selection of traditional, herbal and fruit teas and coffees.
A tasty Heron Bay wholetail breaded scampi; an Open Chicken Pie with a creamy smoked Appplewood cheese and bacon sauce; and a flavoursome Lebanese Chicken salad are three examples of dishes on the menu, which also includes platters to share, lighter dishes – all under 500 calories; and indulgent desserts.
A wide selection of award-winning wines, craft beers, locally-sourced cask ales and premium draught lagers, join Slug and Lettuce’s new unique cocktail range on the drinks menu which boasts over 64 brand new delectable drinks. Using premium spirit brands, the cocktails are 2-4-1 Friday to Sunday and Fizz Fridays has been introduced allowing customers to purchased a bottle of prosecco for £12.
General Manager Robert Street said, “We’re really excited to show off our brand new look and feel as well as share with our customers the new cocktail menu. The new bar is stunning, it has such a unique feel to it, it’s definitely going to be somewhere our local customers will want to visit. As well as running brand new cocktail masterclasses we will be combining it with all that is great about Slug and Lettuce including offers ranging from Happy Mondays (50% off food), Wine Down Wednesdays** and kids eating for £1 on Sunday. There really is something for everyone!”
The bar will open at 9am – 11pm Monday – Thursday, 9am – 2am Friday – Saturday and 10am – 11pm every Sunday.
